The Rooferees are excited to announce a partnership with Kent Pavelka. We could not be happier that the legendary reporter, who has been delighting sports fans across Nebraska with his distinctive radio calls, is serving as a spokesperson for John Higgins Weatherguard, Inc.

College basketball first brought John and Kent together – John in his role as an NCAA referee, and Kent as an announcer.

“John is one of the very best referees in the country, and his resume and reputation make that a fact, not just my opinion,” said Pavelka. “I’ve known John for many years through college basketball, and I admire his work and his character immensely.”

Pavelka became a Weatherguard Inc. customer following storm damage to his roof. The Rooferees installed a DaVinci roof on his home after a consultation with John.

“I have done media endorsements for a number of businesses over the years, but I have always been extremely selective – if I don’t use it, I don’t endorse it,” said Pavelka.  “I hope folks feel like they can take my word for it when it comes to roofing companies in our area. Weatherguard offers superior products, and their workmanship is a definitely a cut above.”

A 1971 UNL graduate, the Lincoln native began his career working part time jobs while attending college and has been a fixture in Nebraska broadcasting ever since, working as not only a sportscaster, but morning show radio host, and as an owner of his own advertising agency. Pavelka has brought games to life via the radio for generations of fans with his graphically detailed, exciting play-by-play calls.

Pavelka was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association’s Hall-of-Fame and is a six-time winner of the Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year Award.
